Therapy for Carers
Support for Stress, Burnout and Grief

Hello

I'm Leanne Scriven

Supporting caregivers who juggle the demands of work and family isn’t just what I do—it’s what I’m passionate about. Through one-on-one therapy, mediation for families facing the pressures of caregiving, and workplace wellbeing talks, I help working carers find balance, clearer communication, and a stronger sense of support.

If you’re a caregiver feeling stretched, overwhelmed, or stuck between roles, or an organisation who wants to support it's employees who care for others, I’m here to help you navigate the challenges with compassion and practical guidance.

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist for Carers

I’m a Registered BACP Psychotherapist, Accredited IMI Mediator, ILM Qualified Coach, and Experienced Facilitator, but more than that, I understand what it’s like to care for others while trying to hold onto yourself.

Caring for someone—whether it’s a loved one, a client, or someone you support through work—can be deeply meaningful, but it can also leave you feeling drained, uncertain, or disconnected from yourself. Strength isn’t just about carrying on—it’s also about knowing when to seek support.

I know this firsthand. When I was struggling, the right counselling support for carers wasn’t there. That experience shaped how I approach therapy: practical, supportive, and accessible. It’s not just about talking—it’s about helping you see yourself more clearly and giving you tools to move forward.

A Deeper Calling to Support Carers Through Therapy

For nearly 20 years, I worked in senior HR roles — coaching leaders and supporting people through personal and professional change. I saw what helps people grow, but also how often deeper emotional struggles go unspoken, especially for those in caring roles.

I felt a deeper calling — to move beyond surface-level fixes and create therapeutic space where carers and overwhelmed individuals could feel seen, supported, and safe enough to explore what’s really going on.

Counselling Grounded in Conflict Resolution and Rebuilding Trust

In my HR career, I often used mediation skills to help people work through conflict, rebuild trust, and repair strained relationships. I saw how powerful it could be in creating space for real change — especially in high-stress or emotionally complex situations.I later trained as an interpersonal mediator to deepen this work, building on my experience helping colleagues and carers navigate difficult conversations, both at work and at home

Navigating Caregiving, Grief, Loss and Life Transitions

Personal experiences of grief, caregiving and major life transitions have deeply shaped how I work. I saw how roles change, how relationships shift, and how difficult it can be to hold onto meaning when you're under emotional pressure.

These experiences reinforced how valuable therapeutic support is — especially for carers navigating loss, strained communication, and the emotional overwhelm that so often comes with the weight of caregiving.

Therapy that supports Carer Stress, Burnout, and Finding Meaning again

In 2020, I chose to focus fully on therapy — bringing together everything I’d learned to support carers who give so much to others. My work now centres on helping people navigate carer burnout, emotional overwhelm, and the search for meaning in the midst of it all.
