Therapy for Carers
Support For The Many Challenges Caring For Someone Can Bring
Hello,
I'm Leanne Scriven
Supporting carers who are balancing work, family, and caring responsibilities isn’t just the focus of my work, it’s something I care deeply about.
Through one-to-one therapy and workplace wellbeing sessions, I support carers to feel steadier, better understood, and less alone in what they are managing.
If you’re a carer feeling overwhelmed or pulled in many directions, or an organisation wanting to better support employees with caring responsibilities, I offer thoughtful support and practical guidance.

My Journey To Supporting Carers Through Therapy
I’m a BACP-registered psychotherapist, accredited mediator, qualified coach, and experienced facilitator. My work focuses on supporting carers who are trying to care for others while still holding onto themselves.
Caring for someone, whether a loved one or someone you support through your work, can be deeply meaningful. But it can also leave you feeling drained, uncertain, or disconnected from yourself. Many carers keep going quietly for a long time before giving themselves space for support.
I know this from experience. When I was struggling, the right counselling support for carers simply wasn’t there. That experience shaped how I approach therapy today. My work is practical, supportive, and accessible. Therapy with me focuses not only on talking things through, but on helping you understand what you’re carrying and find ways forward that feel manageable.

Why I Focus On Supporting Carers
For nearly 20 years, I worked in senior HR roles, coaching leaders and supporting people through personal and professional change. I saw what helps people grow, but also how often deeper emotional struggles go unspoken, especially for those in caring roles. Over time I felt drawn to move beyond surface-level solutions and create a therapeutic space where carers could feel supported, understood, and able to explore what is really happening beneath the surface.
Therapy Grounded In Conflict Resolution and Rebuilding Trust
In my HR career, I often used mediation skills to help people work through conflict, rebuild trust, and repair strained relationships.
I saw how powerful it could be to create space for honest conversation and real change, especially in situations that were emotionally complex or under pressure.
I later trained as an interpersonal mediator to deepen this work, building on my experience supporting colleagues and carers to navigate difficult conversations, both at work and at home.
Navigating Caregiving, Grief, Loss and Life Transitions
Personal experiences of grief, caregiving and major life transitions have shaped how I work today. They showed me how roles can change, relationships can shift, and how difficult it can be to hold onto perspective when life feels emotionally demanding.
These experiences deepened my understanding of the emotional strain carers often carry, and how important it is to have space to reflect and be supported.
Therapy For Carer Stress, Burnout and Emotional Overwhelm
In 2020 I chose to focus fully on therapy, bringing together everything I had learned to support carers who give so much to others.
My work now centres on helping people navigate carer stress, burnout, difficult emotions and the pressures that build up when caring responsibilities become overwhelming.
Many carers reach a point where they realise they need space to pause and think about their own wellbeing as well.
